You know what's not easy to find? Cute boots that are inexpensive, durable, and comfortable.
Oh, and waterproof!
I live in a climate where you can count on a snowy winter. You can also count on seeing a million people walking around with Uggs. Including, (ahem), myself.
Yes, I know, Uggs aren't very cute. You just don't see them springing up in Vogue in 2012. I'm sure other girls in-the-know will tell me that "They're like, so 2004!"
Yup, I'm 8 years out of fashion. Why, who do I think I am for not ditching an item before it's warranted some practical use, some sort of realist?
Actually, I don't regret buying them because they're generally deemed a fashion crime, I regret buying them because they aren't nearly as snow-proof as I was hoping when I bought them three years ago. How do you find boots that are practical for a serious walker (like myself) and don't make you look like an Eskimo? Not that I have anything against Eskimos, but I live in the Midwest.
However, after much searching and scrolling on Google and Zappos, the apparent winner seems to be a pair of LL Bean boots.
Here's the linkSo basically, I'm buying a duck boot (quack quack!). To be honest, I've often associated lines like LL Bean and Lands End with middle aged East Cost soccer moms rather than 20 year old college students, like myself. But I like these, I think they're worth a shot. Before something is fashionable, it should be comfortable and functional. There's a reason I don't walk around all day in stilettos.
These boots are $89 dollars: not exactly cheap, but not atrocious in price either. The reviews are mostly stellar for this particular style. People agree to buy a size down, so I will buy a 9 instead of a 10, although I have to wait until March until they have them in 9's in black. Yaaaay...
I will do a follow-up on them to see how they fit and decide if they were worth it.
Keep checking for more posts!
